Camper in Leadership Training

The Camp has a program specifically created for older children to give them the chance to continue attending camp, while enabling them to give something back to their community, receive valuable work experience, and develop goals and improved organizational skills. The “Camper in Leadership Program” (CILT) is a confidence and empowerment program that provides youth with a unique opportunity to develop their leadership skills by working with the CILT Director, counselors and campers within a resident camp community. Leadership campers work under the direct supervision of the CILT Director who trains participants in group sessions and one on one mentoring. Leadership campers also are assigned to work with our most experienced counselors, to assist with campers and participate in the team building effort.

This leadership program aims to help young people discover their strengths, make decisions, set goals, solve problems and resolve conflicts. The program promotes self-expression, peer relationships, trust in others and developing the participants individuality (being proud of who they are). As a result, these young people experience a feeling of accomplishment, acquire on-the-job skills, develop important social expertise, and receive spiritual guidance that will help them become productive citizens, prepare for higher education and plan for a successful future.
