“Out with the old, in with the new” is a popular theme around the new year. For some, this applies to certain behaviors or ways of living. For others, it takes the literal meaning of cleaning and decluttering a home or workspace. And according to research, the latter may be the way to set yourself up for happiness and success in the new year!
According to a study by Princeton University, researchers discovered that our environment can positively or negatively impact our ability to complete tasks and our overall mental health. Another study by the University of Connecticut found that removing or controlling clutter can reduce the stress from the mess, and help us feel happier, less anxious, and more confident in ourselves.
If this resonates with you, we challenge you to take it one step further by donating your items instead of throwing them away! You never know who may find your gently used items as their newest treasure.
At St. Vincent de Paul Los Angeles thrift store, we’ll happily take your gently used items off your plate. We make it easy for you to donate with donation bins at the front of our stores for quick drop-offs, and a loading dock for larger items and donations. We even offer bulky item pickup services throughout Los Angeles and Orange County FREE OF CHARGE! We’ll drive our delivery truck to you and pick up any large items that may no longer spark joy. Just call ahead and schedule your free pickup– we only ask to have the things ready for pickup outside your home. It’s really that easy!
We welcome almost all donation items you can think of. From clothing to accessories, furniture to electronics, home goods, gadgets, and our Los Angeles location even accepts cars! That said, there are a few specific items and conditions we cannot accept, and we encourage you to check out our guidelines to ensure we can take your gently used items. We also offer tax-deductible receipts for every donation. Review our FAQs, learn more about our donation guidelines, or to schedule a free pickup, click here.
The best part is when you donate to our organization, you create a ripple effect of good deeds. You are also assisting in our mission to help disadvantaged, poor, and low-income individuals and families. Our nonprofit organization provides charitable assistance to people in need throughout the Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara communities. This comes in the form of rental/bill-paying aid, food pantries, soup kitchens, clothing, furniture, hotel vouchers, and more. Our volunteers throughout the community rely on our stores to assist with the provision of free clothing, furniture, and appliances for needy families they serve. Another byproduct of donating and shopping at thrift stores is becoming part of the green and sustainable reuse, reduce and recycle movement. We divert millions of pounds of product from landfills each year. Thrift shopping is good for our environment AND good for your wallet.
Thank you for your continued support, we wish you the best for 2023 and beyond!
