Vincentian Services

At the heart of St. Vincent de Paul of Los Angeles (SVdPLA) are our member-volunteers (known as Vincentians) who serve neighbors in need across Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties.

Vincentians assist those in need by*:

  • Providing local food pantries and soup kitchens
  • Visiting retirement and convalescent homes
  • Providing food, clothing, blankets, or toys
  • Delivering food to those unable to leave their homes
  • Driving seniors or other people with medical conditions to grocery stores doctor’s appointments
  • Providing rental/bill-paying assistance
  • Providing furniture and clothing from our thrift stores
  • Helping individuals with social service paperwork, and more

Vincentians serve in groups called Conferences of Charity, usually based in local Catholic parishes, though some meet through schools, universities, and community centers.

Do you need assistance? We can help!

First, please contact your local Catholic church and ask if they have a St. Vincent de Paul Conference of Charity or another ministry that may provide assistance.

If they do not, please call our Vincentian Services Department at 1-888-552-7872 or email vincentianservices@svdpla.org and they can put you in touch with a group in your local community.

Each Conference of Charity provides slightly different services as they adapt to the greatest needs in their local community, but they will assist you as best as they can.

Through the generous donations received at SVdPLA Thrift Stores, we’re able to provide free clothing and furniture to individuals and families in need.

To qualify, a request must come from an authorized organization or an SVdPLA Conference of Charity.
