Take Dawn, for example. Her story is one of both professional fulfillment and profound personal support. “I love that I’m part of something bigger that helps our community, and our staff,” she says. “We really believe in investing in each other.”
Dawn was among those affected by the Eaton Canyon fire, which displaced her family and left them with unimaginable loss. In that moment of crisis, it wasn’t just about time off, it was about being surrounded by compassion. Her coworkers and supervisors reached out, lifted what they could from her plate, and gave her the space she needed to heal. “They didn’t just help with logistics,” she shares. “They checked in emotionally. That made all the difference.”
Lisa Marie’s journey to SVDPLA is equally powerful. “At one point, my family actually needed the services offered by St. Vincent de Paul,” she recalls. “I felt called to give back, and now I leave work every day feeling fulfilled. That’s something I wish for everyone.”
She adds, “Every day is different, and every day offers a new opportunity to grow, to serve, and to be more present for those who need us.”
