At the heart of St. Vincent de Paul of Los Angeles (SVdPLA), beats an unwavering commitment to uplift our community, fund vital charitable programs, and champion environmental sustainability through our two thrift stores. Behind the scenes, we strive to maintain a positive and uplifting workplace that nurtures growth and compassion and empowers employees to make a difference.
Today, we are excited to introduce you to Souncirie Pandy, the Vincentian Services Coordinator for North and South San Fernando. Her inspiring journey within our organization exemplifies SVdPLA’s values and commitment to compassion and family-like support.
Souncirie’s path within the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been a multi-layered experience marked by growth, service, and community. Her journey began when her brother recruited her as a camp counselor at Circle V Ranch Camp at 21 years old. Little did she know this introduction would lead to a lifelong commitment to helping others. Inspired by the mission of SVdPLA, Souncirie’s involvement soon extended to other parts of the organization, leading her down a path of service and community-building that has enriched her life and the lives of those she has touched.
“My role has been in many different layers. I started as a camp counselor at 21 years old. Fast forward, I’ve held the position as a camp counselor and camp coordinator. Now, as a Vincentian Services Coordinator, I have grown up here with the Society and many who have been around for as long as I have watched me grow and now raise my family is a testament to Society is a great opportunity to have that family feel. That love is a true genuine connector of faith, love, and an overall family feel.”
Among the cherished memories Souncirie holds, she fondly recalls a moment that embodies the true spirit of SVdPLA culture. Souncirie shares:
“The moment that stands out the most will always be when we were in full swing in camp, we were in session, unfortunately, my daughter was diagnosed as diabetic. At the moment, I had to drop everything. That said, I didn’t know how it would impact camp since we were in full session, but everyone I shared my situation with, like the executive director, said no family comes first. It gave me peace of mind that I could step away however long I needed, and it wouldn’t impact my work and keep my job. I was very grateful for the opportunity and am forever thankful for that.”
This evolution, spanning over two decades, illustrates the nurturing environment SVdPLA provides for personal and professional growth. Souncirie’s story is a testament to the transformative power of being part of the SVdPLA family. The organization is not just a workplace; values like faith, love, and compassion are woven into every interaction. Souncirie’s personal growth within this nurturing environment reflects the culture we cultivate, making SVdPLA more than just a job but a deeply connected community.
