Camperships Bring Kids to Nature
Children from low-income backgrounds are less likely to have access to nature. That means that they have less access to the benefits that nature can provide. Being outdoors, away from the problems of everyday life, can relieve stress and anxiety, boost mood, and bring joy. Time spent outdoors can be especially beneficial for children in foster homes, group homes, busy working-class families, or any situation where children might feel undue burdens. After a year of social isolation and an excess of time spent indoors due to COVID-19, nature is one of the greatest gifts we can provide to all children, but especially children in vulnerable situations.
At Circle V Ranch Camp, camperships cover the cost of attending camp. Circle V is located in the Santa Barbara mountains and has been making nature accessible to all since 1945, especially for children in need. The goal is to help campers develop a strong spiritual, physical, mental, and social character through nature and positive role models. Circle V Ranch Camp provides outdoor experiences that build self-esteem, expand knowledge and appreciation of nature, others, and God. Through “camperships,” Circle V works to make this camp experience accessible to all children, regardless of financial background.
That is why we are asking for car donations to help Circle V bring more children to nature.
Donate Your Car
One car donation can fund a full “campership” for two children. One full campership provides six days and five nights worth of nutritious meals, transportation to and from camp, lodging in a cozy air-conditioned cabin or tent, and activities such as archery, arts and crafts, painting, photography, baseball, basketball, soccer, miniature golf, and much more.
Circle V provides a wholesome, compassionate, nurturing, and fun environment where kids can let go of their problems and even work through them. No electronics to distract them. No need to worry about their next meal. All they need to do is have fun.
