It’s that time of year for counting our blessings. With the holidays in tow, many of us are busy gathering with loved ones and enjoying holiday traditions with family. While it is an exciting time for many, we must also keep our unhoused neighbors and people living in poverty on top of our minds.
This time of year may not be as joyous or abundant for them. Perhaps it is even dreadful to feel the pressure of keeping up with the expense of the holidays. They are most concerned about how they will put a meal on the table for the entire family, keep the lights on, or worse, wonder where they will find a safe place to sleep. They’re praying about being able to give their children gifts or having to make challenging financial decisions to make ends meet.
That’s why we humbly ask for your support this GivingTuesday, November 29 to allow us to answer the prayers of help and spread hope throughout the Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara communities. When you donate to St. Vincent de Paul Los Angeles, you’re helping fund programs that provide emergency assistance to individuals and families living in poverty. Our programs provide food and clothing, connect homeless families with housing, give assistance with rent and utilities, assist with job searches, offer prayers, and more.
If you’d like to spread hope this season, here a few ways you can help:
- Make a monetary donation
- Volunteer or sponsor a meal at our Men’s Homeless shelter the Cardinal Manning Center
- Shop at our thrift stores
- Donate unwanted items to our SVDPLA thrift stores (including car donations)
- Sign up for our newsletter to learn more about how you can get involved and see your support in action. (Scroll down to the bottom of the page to sign up)
Thank you to all our partners, shoppers, volunteers, employees and supporters who help us continue to help the unhoused and vulnerable in our communities during the giving season and throughout the year. Keep us going strong and please spread the word and contribute to the cause this GivingTuesday!
