Bringing Holiday Joy to Families Across Los Angeles
This season, St. Vincent de Paul of Los Angeles came together with generous partners, volunteers, and supporters to serve our community through a series of impactful events rooted in care, dignity, and hope. From Giving Tuesday to community events and hands-on distributions, the past month was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when compassion leads the way.
A Season of Giving in Action
Giving Tuesday played a key role in supporting one of our most essential efforts this season: providing new shoes for neighbors experiencing homelessness. For many, worn or ill-fitting shoes make everyday survival even harder, turning a simple walk into a painful challenge. Funds raised on Giving Tuesday helped ensure our neighbors could receive new, properly fitting shoes, along with additional support services they rely on throughout the year.
This initiative was about more than footwear. It was about dignity, mobility, and helping people move forward with one less barrier in their way.
One Shared Mission
Our Annual Christmas Toy Giveaway & Party brought families together to celebrate the season and create joyful memories for children. Thanks to our partners the Shoe Palace and CHP, children received new toys while families enjoyed food and activities. It created a moment of celebration and togetherness for families and we could really feel the holiday spirit!
Community Food Distributions
In addition to the toy giveaway, SVdPLA hosted a separate food distribution event to support families in need. In collaboration with the Allen Lund Company, we provided families with chicken, groceries, and essential food items. Volunteers worked together to prepare and distribute food bags, ensuring families could bring home meals during the holiday season. We distributed 300 food baskets from St. Vincent de Paul’s Los Angeles Thrift Store where they were distributed to members of St. Vincent de Paul’s various chapters.
Thank You for Making It Possible
None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our partners, donors and volunteers.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to walking alongside our neighbors and continuing this work together.
