When disaster strikes, the road to recovery can feel overwhelming. At St. Vincent de Paul of Los Angeles, our Disaster Recovery Services are here to walk alongside families and individuals who have been impacted by natural or man-made disasters.
Our goal is simple: to respond quickly and compassionately so survivors can begin rebuilding their lives with dignity and support.
Through the leadership of our dedicated Disaster Recovery Coordinator, our team focuses on providing timely assistance that is guided by the needs of those directly affected. Every situation is different, which is why our response is centered on listening, understanding, and delivering meaningful help where it is needed most.
Services We Provide
House in a Box
House in a Box™ is a special program designed to help families who have lost their homes in disasters begin again. Through this program, fire survivors receive essential household items delivered directly to their new homes.
Each household receives the basics needed to rebuild daily life, including beds, linens, dishes, cookware, dressers, silverware, bathroom essentials, dining sets, and a comfortable couch. The program is called “House in a Box™” because these items arrive packaged and ready to help families create a livable home again with dignity and comfort.
Financial Assistance
For families facing sudden displacement or unexpected costs, financial assistance can be critical. We help with relocation support, utilities, and other urgent basic needs so families can regain stability during a difficult time.
Essential Supplies
We also provide clothing, food, hygiene products, and other important items to ensure individuals and families have access to the essentials while they recover.
Mental Health Support and Community Resources
Recovering from disaster is not just about physical needs. Emotional support is equally important. We connect individuals with mental health services and trusted community resources that help support long-term recovery and healing.
